We want Elevate Realty SEO — the portal, our public website and the blog and careers pages we host for customers — to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or voice control.

Our standard

We design and test against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. That includes text contrast, keyboard access to every control, visible focus, labelled form fields, meaningful headings and page titles, text alternatives for images, and layouts that work when zoomed to 200% or viewed on a phone.

What we do

  • Check new screens with automated accessibility tools and by keyboard before release.
  • Aim to show the numbers behind every chart as text or a table, so they can be read without the picture.
  • Use the description you wrote as the text alternative for pictures made in the portal.
  • Build hosted blog and careers pages from accessible templates. The words and images on them are written by our customers, who are responsible for them.

Known limitations

  • Some third-party pages we link to (for example Google sign-in or social networks) are outside our control.
  • Some charts in the portal do not yet have a table view, and very large data tables can be long to navigate with a screen reader; we are adding both.
